New Courts
Renovation of Existing Court
Recently, two (2) new Grade II Customary Courts were established at Odosenlu-Alaroljebu North-East Local Government Area and in Eggua in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State respectively. Both Courts have commenced operation. Subsequently two Customary Courts were commissioned in Oke-Odan and Igbesa on the 27th of January, 2023.
As a follow up to the visits to all the Customary Courts across the State carried out by the Hon. President (Rtd.), Hon. Justice M. A. Ojo with the then Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Mr. Akingbolahan Adeniran, Honorable Judges of the Ogun State Customary Court of Appeal as well as members of Management Team, the infrastructural deficiencies and personnel inadequacies noticed during the visits are being gradually addressed by the Hon. President.
The renovation of Customary Court buildings, provision of computers, replacement of obsolete equipment, furniture items and other facilities which commenced in 2021 has continued.
Recently, physical renovations were carried out at the Customary Court of Appeal Headquarters. These include; the renovation of the CCA Court II building (New furniture items- Litigant benches, tables, chairs and witness boxes were also supplied to replace decrepit ones in these Courts), the renovation of the CCA Court I (repainting and replacement of air conditioners), the upgrading and facelift of the Judges’ Chambers (repainting, replacement of obsolete facilities).
In this regard, the Hon. Acting President expresses deep appreciation to the Governor of the State, His Excellency, Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun, MFR for Supporting this initiative by approving funds for the renovations and facilities upgrade. While thanking His Excellency for his support so far, like Oliver Twist, we pray for more as there is still a lot to be done in bringing our Customary Courts to the level they ought to be as an integral part of the justice system in the State.
